Check on running bank balance

Cells T1, T2 and T3 on the Ledgers!!! tab provide the user doing year end checks and tweaks on the spreadsheet with a tool to keep an eye on whether the actual end balance of the bank account (read off the bank statement) matches the ending running balance (in column L) for the bank account ledger on the Ledgers!!! tab.

The actual year end bank balance (read off the bank statement) should be typed into cell T1. Cell T2 should contain a reference to the row in column L that contains the year end balance for the bank account ledger. If the bank account ledger is correct and complete these values should match, and the this should be indicated by a green shaded “yes” in cell T1. This check is straightforward and arguably does not need the confirmation feedback in cell T3. However, when the bank account leger contains a few hundred entries for the year and the user is doing some year end tidying up / adjustments (perhaps breaking down some bank account transactions differently than done originally, etc.), it is comforting to be able to keep an eye on whether the bank account ledger still matches the correct year end balance for the bank account, or whether mistakes have crept in causing errors in the running balance for the bank account ledger on the Ledgers!!! tab.

This check is optional and can be ignored, or even deleted, if not considered desirable.
